Those vaporizers, which have lessened heater base with controls for influencing the airflow and temperature, are known as volcano vaporizers. These vaporizers are used for aromatherapy, ingestion of cannabis or other herbs without producing smoke and gastronomic preparation. The air compilation system consists of a heatproof bag, a set of valves to control dispersion and a heating chamber for heating material. The vegetable matter or vital oil is heated by a changeable temperature, then pressurized by hot air convection rivulet and then the extracted vapors gathers in the heatproof bag. Once the bag has puffed up, the user takes it out from the heater base and inhales or diffuses the vapors by using a set of valves.

The volcano vaporizers are used mainly for aromatherapy. These are used to apply heat to the matter to reveal out the aromatic compounds from herbs, plants, spices and vital oils, used in aromatherapy. These vaporizers are very useful in releasing fragile aromas of material, which may be ruined by applying too much temperature or which are difficult to release due to their chemical property. These can also be used as an alternative of smoking as one can inhale the extracted compound of heated material without having any harmful smoke.
